The UKIRG welcome you to join us for A Day in the Life with Dysphagia as we share best practice perspectives from leading care providers, expert clinical professionals and leading individuals involved with managing dysphagia. 
 
The day includes:

  • Guest speaker presentations from healthcare leaders, culinary experts and senior industry figures,
  • Interactive workshops,
  • Exhibitions and product samples from more than a dozen specialist suppliers,
  • On-stage panel discussions.
These activities provide the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of dysphagia from multiple perspectives.

Pre-Festival IDDSI Master Class
Wednesday 18th September 2024, 11:00am – 3:00pm
£199 + VAT (Including lunch, plentiful refreshments and certificate of attendance)
 
The IDDSI UK Masterclass will offer participants a deep dive into IDDSI and the rationale behind the textures to support patient safety. This unique session is delivered by IDDSI Board members, Peter Lam (RD) and Ben Hanson (PhD), with tuition from expert guest speakers in kitchen science and logistics. The half day Masterclass is educational and practical and will give you a great understanding of how to use IDDSI to improve your professional effectiveness and efficiency.
 
Learning Objectives: 
  • Understand the IDDSI framework philosophy and why certain food and drink consistencies may be safer for people with swallowing difficulties. 
  • Knowledge of the swallow process and how certain foods and drinks can be challenging to consume safely.  
  • Skills to identify high-risk textures that might be found in different ingredients. 
  • Understanding of how new products are innovated and brought to market by industry leaders.
  • Experience of studying IDDSI food and drink textures, including how textures can change over time under different conditions, e.g. from kitchen to bedside to fork. 
  • Knowledge and experience of using the IDDSI audit tools for rapid assessment.
  • Expertise in maintaining and correcting IDDSI food textures.
