Q: Do I need special permission to use IDDSI resources?

A: No. All documents on the IDDSI website have been developed by IDDSI and are for public use. You do not need to seek permission from IDDSI to share these documents and images. However, when referencing IDDSI on your printed materials, website, promotion information, communications, you must reference www.iddsi.org as the source and cite the CreativeCommons BY-SA 4.0 license as follows:

Supplementary Notice: Modification of the diagrams or descriptors within the IDDSI Framework is DISCOURAGED and NOT RECOMMENDED. Alterations to elements of the IDDSI framework may lead to confusion and errors in diet texture or drink selection for patients with dysphagia. Such errors have previously been associated with adverse events including choking and death.

Q: Can I use the IDDSI Logo in my materials?

A: The IDDSI logo is NOT to be used in any electronic or printed materials, website, promotion information, communications - unless authorized by IDDSI to do so. The use of the IDDSI logo may mislead customers/audiences to perceive that products or materials are uniquely endorsed or certified by IDDSI. We are reserving the use of the IDDSI logo for official IDDSI materials and resources, so they can be easily identified.  The IDDSI Framework may be used in educational materials as long as the copyright and Creative Commons license are cited.  NEITHER the IDDSI logo or the IDDSI framework are to be used for advertising, product labeling, promotion or sales.

Q: Are there guidelines to creating a website, webpages, blogs or products about IDDSI?
A:
Yes:

  • Please DO NOT USE the IDDSI logo in websites, webpages, blogs or products that are not officially produced by IDDSI to avoid giving the impression that your visitors have navigated to the official IDDSI website or that the website, webpages, blogs or products have been created by, endorsed or certified by IDDSI.

  • Please include a clearly visible statement on the homepage of the website or webpages its intent and purpose and indicate ‘This site is NOT the official IDDSI website’ and refer the visitors to www.IDDSI.org for the most current information and resources.

  • The IDDSI framework (language specific) can be included with the appropriate copyright and CreativeCommons license citation.

  • Avoid or limit inclusion/posting of any resource materials or videos that are already housed on the IDDSI website or IDDSI YouTube channel. This is to avoid the material being out of date if the material is updated or changed. Links to the IDDSI materials are recommended.

  • IDDSI resources and publications are freely available on the IDDSI website. IDDSI discourages the sale of any material or resources that are freely accessible.

  • ​Modification of the IDDSI Framework is DISCOURAGED and NOT RECOMMENDED.​
 

Q: Are there guidelines to creating resources, educational materials, or education programs about IDDSI?
A:
Yes: 

  • Please DO NOT USE the IDDSI logo in resources, educational materials or education programs that are not officially produced by IDDSI to avoid giving the impression that they have been created by, endorsed or certified by IDDSI.

  • Please include a clearly visible statement on the resources, educational materials or education programs their intent and purpose and indicate ‘These are NOT official IDDSI resources, educational materials or education programs and they are NOT meant to replace materials and resources on www.IDDSI.org’. 

  • Refer consumers to the IDDSI website for the most current information and resources.
  • The IDDSI framework (language specific) can be included with the appropriate copyright and CreativeCommons license citation.

  • Avoid or limit inclusion/posting of any resource materials or videos that are already housed on the IDDSI website or IDDSI YouTube channel. This is to avoid materials being out of date if the material is updated or changed.
